In a postgame interview, Kobe Bryant was asked what the significance of the “I Can’t Breathe” shirts was. NBA players wore this shirt during shootaround to honor Eric Garner, who was killed by a police officer. Bryant says the video was “horrid” and there was need for justice.

This ties into the events regarding the murder of George Floyd, who was also killed by a police officer. Kobe Bryant says that you should “use your platform to speak up and affect change”. He goes onto say that we should “support each other” and “speak up for what you believe in.”
