The rumors of interest by the Brooklyn Nets in trading for Bradley Beal were denied by his agent, but many people inside the NBA believe that the Washington Wizards would benefit from parting ways with the 26-year-old guard. Despite the fact that Beal is the second top scorer in the league this season, with 30.5 points per game, the Wizards are struggling as a team.

Washington is 9th in the Eastern Conference with 24 wins and 40 losses. The last playoff spot currently is occupied by the Orlando Magic with a 30-35 record. The Wizards are out of the playoff picture if the regular season is truncated. Their chances could increase if a play-in tournament is used to determine the last playoff seeds.

Per Fred Katz of The Athletic, via HoopsHype:

“The Beal-should-be-traded storyline isn’t only media-driven. There are loads of people inside the league who believe the Wizards would be better off if they dealt him for young players and/or draft picks as soon as they could. Such is life when the NBA’s second-leading scorer plays on a .375 squad. And it’s not just the winning percentage.”
