Allen Iverson is famous for several moments in his career including ‘carrying’ his team and getting his teammates out of difficult situations.

On this day, 19 years ago, Iverson had specifically that role in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals against the Toronto Raptors.

“AI” scored shrugged off the Game 1 loss by erupting for 54 points, on 21-for-39 shooting, with five rebounds to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 97-92 win over the Raptors. 

These series were one of the highlights for Iverson’s historic playoff run in 2001. In particular, the “Answer” averaged 33.7 points, 6.9 assists and 4.4 rebounds against the Raptors.

Furthermore, he outdueled Vince Carter, who finished the series with 30.4 points, 5.6 assists and 6.0 rebounds.
