The Toronto Raptors outgun the Philadelphia 76ers after Scottie Barnes hit the tiebreaking free throw with 0.8 seconds remaining in overtime, 116-115 on Sunday night.
The Raptors forward made the first of two from the line and intentionally missed the second as Toronto won its third straight home meeting with the 76ers.
Barnes dropped 31 points, Jamal Shead added a career-high 22, and Immanuel Quickly had 20, while Collin Murray-Boyles had 17 and matched his career-high with 15 rebounds.
On the other hand, Tyrese Maxey led the Sixers with 38 points, VJ Edgecombe with 17, while Kelly Oubre Jr., Dommnick Barlow, and Quentin Grimes each scored 13.
Philadelphia lost for the second time in seven games, while also key players, including Joel Embiid and Paul George, were sidelined on the first night of this back-to-back due to injuries.
Barnes just returned after sitting out Friday’s loss at Boston because of a sore right knee but RJ Barrett was inactive because of a sprained left ankle.
Brandon Ingram missed his second straight game due to a right thumb, while Jakob Poeltl missed his 10th straight because of a lower back injury.
Ja’Kobe Walter started for the Raptors, but exited four minutes into the first quarter because of a sore right hip.
The 76ers had 22 turnovers, one shy of matching a season-high, as 11 assists were a season-low.
The Raptors had a worse shooting percentage from distance this season to 5 for 32 (.156).
Both teams will play in Toronto for another matchup on Monday night.
