Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius reached an agreement with playmaker Zab Dowdell on Tuesday. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Dowdell (1.91 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Enisey Krasnoyarsk, where he averaged 13.4 points and 3.5 assists in 18 VTB League games last season.
Dowdell has also played for Gran Canaria and Unicaja Malaga in Spain, Anadolu Efes Istanbul in Turkey, Phoenix of the NBA, Tulsa of the D-League, Casale Monferrato in Italy and Sluc Nancy Basket Pro in France. He helped Nancy win the French League title in 2008.
Dowdell brings in some Euroleague experience, as he averaged 7 points in 6 games with Unicaja in 2009-10. He also played the 2007-08 Eurocup with Nancy, averaging 11.2 points and 3.2 assists in 10 games.
Dowdell is expected to land in Vilnius on Wednesday and, according to L. Rytas general manager Martynas Purlys, is expected for this week’s game against Laboral Kutxa Vitoria.
