Sports analyst Stephen A. Smith believes that this season is the last chance for LeBron James to win an NBA championship in Los Angeles. Because next season other teams, such as the Clippers, will be even better after they learn how to win.
“If LeBron and the Lakers lose this year, I don’t think LeBron will ever win a title in LA,” Smith shared his quote on Instagram. The chances are increasing that the Lakers might not win the title this season because the season will not be completed.
Even if the season is cancelled, the NBA could still pick the winner but it would be a tough call with no clear framework on how the champion should be chosen. If it’s solely on the win-loss record, then the Milwaukee Bucks should win it.
Before the season was suspended, LeBron and the Lakers earned big wins over the Bucks and the Western Conference rivals Clippers. According to various analysts, James turned an upper gear after the All-Star Weekend and was gearing for the playoffs.
