Trae Young called Joel Embiid ‘probably the best big’ in the NBA after Hawks’ loss to the Sixers. But former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins is not all that excited by Embiid’s career-high 49-point game against the Hawks.

Perk missed that same energy when Philadelphia faced Milwaukee last Saturday, saying Embiid ‘disappeared’ in that game.

Although he scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, it was far from the dominance he showed versus Atlanta. It is performing against the top teams that really counts.

“[Joel Embiid] is all hyped up because he dominated the worst team in the league … why didn’t I see this same energy this past Saturday when he went up against … the best player in the league? He disappeared.”
