Zalgiris Kaunas announced today that the Spanish coach signed a one-year deal with the team.
The Lithuanian club wrote in their personal webpage that Joan Plaza would direct the club, after resigning with Cajasol Sevilla.
In declarations made in the same webpage Plaza said “I’m honored to be a head coach of such a prestigious team. In Spain, Kaunas is a well-respected club.”
Romanov, Zalgiris president, said in the same article that he was “very pleased with this signing” and that “playing in Euroleague level was the key factor for Plaza to accept the contract”.
Joan Plaza was the head coach of Real Madrid before leading Cajasol Sevilla last season to a 7th place in ACB regular season and be eliminated in the first round of playoffs by Real Madrid (2-0)
