Former player and veteran coach Lefteris Subotic has been appointed as the new General Manager of Olimpija Ljubljana.

Management Board of BC Olimpija Ljubljana had a meeting today where members listened to the report of Janez Rajgelj and decided to remove his authorization rights within the club. As of tomorrow, functions and rights of General Manager of the club will be taken by Slobodan Subotić.

Slobodan Subotić is a well-known name in basketball world. He started his career as a player of Montenegrin club named Primorje Herceg-Novi. He moved to Ljubljana, Slovenia and signed with Olimpija in 1975, where he played for next 12 years. During that period of time, he was also a successful player of Yugoslavian National Team. In 1986, Subotić moved to Greece where he stayed with Aris Thessaloniki for 7 years. He was part of magnificent trio Galis-Subotić-Giannakis, which won several Greek Cups and Championships and put Aris Thessaloniki on the basketball map of Europe. That team also had several great results in the European competitions.

Subotić retired as a basketball player in 1993 and right away started working as an assistant coach in Iraklis. He is the only coach who can say that he worked in all Thessaloniki (Aris, Iraklis, PAOK) and Athens (Panathinaikos, Olympiacos, AEK) which are the main basketball powerhouses in Greece.

His first great success as a coach came with Aris in 1997, when he led them to surprising victory in Korać Cup. Next year he accepted the offer of another Greek basketball giant, Panathinaikos. In 1998, after 14 years of struggle for Panathinaikos, Subotić returned the Greek Championship trophy back to trophy showcase of this most successful European basketball club. In 2002, as a coach of Olympiacos, he won the Greek Cup final. In last couple of years, Pixi worked as a head coach in Italy (Aurora) and Croatia (Split, Cedevita). During 2001 and 2003, he was also a coach of Slovenian national team.
