Germany secured a 99-91 victory over Slovenia in the EuroBasket 2025 Quarter-Finals, ending Luka Doncic’s tournament despite his standout 39-point performance.

The reigning world champions avoided joining Spain, Serbia, and France among early exits, advancing to face Finland in the Semi-Finals with a place in Sunday’s Final on the line.

Slovenia made a strong start in Arena Riga before 9,038 spectators, finishing the first quarter with a 10-2 run to take a 32-21 lead. They extended the margin to 34-21 early in the second frame, but Germany responded with a 13-2 surge to tie the game 39-39. Slovenia still held a 51-45 advantage at halftime.

Doncic picked up his fourth foul just two minutes into the third quarter but stayed on the floor. Slovenia maintained control, pushing the lead to 73-64 late in the period. Tristan Da Silva’s half-court buzzer beater cut the deficit to 74-70 heading into the final 10 minutes.

The fourth quarter shifted momentum in Germany’s favor. Back-to-back three-pointers gave them an 82-77 lead, and their defense tightened down the stretch. Slovenia managed just two points over nearly three minutes, allowing Germany to move ahead 96-89 in the closing stages.

Daniel Theis played a pivotal role with 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists. Franz Wagner added 23 points and 7 boards, while Dennis Schroder contributed 20 points and 7 assists.

Slovenia’s offense leaned heavily on Doncic, who also recorded 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Klemen Prepelic scored 13 points off the bench, while Gregor Hrovat finished with 11, but no other Slovenian reached double figures in scoring.

Germany’s balance proved decisive, as they hit 30 of 69 shots overall and converted 30 of 37 free throws. Slovenia struggled from beyond the arc, shooting 9-of-39 compared to Germany’s 9-of-30.

The defeat marked Slovenia’s second consecutive EuroBasket Quarter-Final elimination, having fallen to Poland in 2022. Germany remains unbeaten in the tournament and continues its push to add a continental crown to the World Cup title.
