After missing Sunday’s game against the New York Knicks due to the death of Kobe Bryant, Kyrie Irving is expected to play on Wednesday.

Irving was close friends with Bryant and was tremendously affected by his tragic death on Sunday. As a result, he did not play against the Knicks.

However, he returned to practice on Tuesday and will likely be available for tonight’s (29/01) game against the Detroit Pistons.

“Who knows how he feels tomorrow? But I think the fact that he was here today and engaged and had a great practice, I think it bodes well for playing tomorrow.

I think he was closer to Kobe than people realize. …Very, very affected (by Bryant’s death). He practiced today, kind of stoic and quiet.

Competed his tail off in practice and was really good. But you can see, he’s obviously still affected,” Brooklyn Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson told reporters, per Ian Begley of SNY.

Bryant and his daughter Gianna died in a helicopter crash in California on Sunday.
