Earl Clark’s NBA journey was anything but ordinary. From battling for minutes on star-loaded teams to shining under the bright lights of Los Angeles, the former lottery pick shared never-before-heard stories about playing alongside legends like Kobe Bryant, Kyrie Irving, and LeBron James in an exclusive interview with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson on Scoop B Radio.
Clark’s most vivid memories come from his time with the Lakers. “Kobe asked me where I was from when we first met—I was starstruck,” Clark recalled. But it was Bryant’s relentless drive that left the biggest mark. “We beat his team in practice, and he flipped the table, ended practice, and yelled, ‘We can’t get better like this!’”
Before Irving became an NBA champion, Clark witnessed his brilliance in Cleveland. “Kyrie was a young dog, just skilled beyond his years,” Clark said. “I asked him how he made those crazy layups—he was always working, always studying the game.”
Though they never played together, Clark shared a surreal moment with LeBron. After a strong performance against Miami, James questioned why Clark was benched: “LeBron said, ‘Why’d they take you out? You were stretching the floor!’ That’s when I knew I belonged.”
Despite stints in Phoenix, Orlando, and overseas, Clark’s heart remains in L.A. “The Lakers gave me a real chance,” he said. “I proved I belonged in this league because of them.”
Clark also opened up about his Orlando days, calling Dwight Howard “a Hall of Famer, no question.” He praised their tight-knit team: “We hung out at Q-Rich’s house, played cards—it was a brotherhood.”
