Former Besiktas point guard Deron Williams will have his number eight jersey retired as he returns to the New Jersey Nets.

Williams was one of the first NBA players to sign in Europe due to the lockout which has seemingly now been lifted. He joined the Turkish side in July.

Retiring the jersey is made all the more impressive as Williams only played 15 games for Besiktas, averaging 21.8 points and 6.5 assists during his stay.

Williams scored a career high 50 points in his last Eurochallenge game, a 105-94 win over BC Goettingen. {jathumbnail off}

Blogging for ESPN.com, Williams said that it wasn’t much of a culture shock as most of the players and coaching staff spoke good English.

NBA training camps begin on December 9th with practice facilities opening on Thursday morning.
