The career could have turned completely different if it wasn’t for basketball. Three-time NBA champion Andre Iguodala was thinking about becoming a math teacher when he went to college.

Per Fast Company:

I come from a small town [Springfield, Illinois], and no one knew who I was. I thought I would go to college and become a math teacher. I remember joking around in practice and my coach was like, “You know there are NBA scouts here,” and I said, “What does that have to do with me?” He said, “Well, who do you think they’re here to see?”

This past season Iguodala averaged 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game for the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors traded Iguodala in July along with a protected first round draft pick to the Memphis Grizzlies for Julian Washburn.
