The Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers talked about the moments when swingman Klay Thompson torn his ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals:

“He was in the backroom, and somebody ran out, one of the assistant coaches and says, ‘You can’t go back into the game unless you shoot your free throws,’ We didn’t really know what was going on, so we walked back out, and then the fans go crazy. It was unbelievable.

It was probably my favorite moment on the job. He said, ‘I’m shooting the free throws,’ so I grab Klay. I said, ‘Listen, shoot the free throws, do not run back on defense. Just shoot the free throws and stay there.’ He shoots the free throws, and he runs back,” Myers said, per NBC Sports.

This past season, the 29-year-old sharpshooter averaged 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
