Plymouth RaidersThe Airwaves Plymouth Raiders are delighted to announce the signing of Plymouth born forward Anthony Rowe. The move will significantly strengthen the Raiders team, and Rowe will go straight into the team for Friday night's encounter with the Leicester Riders, (event starts at 7.15pm on Friday 13th at the Plymouth Pavilions).

Rowe, a product of the Plymouth Raiders junior development system, was given a 4 year scholarship to North Georgia State College following his A Level studies at Estover Community College. He graduated from North Georgia this past summer with a degree in Physical Education, and signed his first professional contract with Cognac, in N1 division in France.

Things, however, didn't work out for either party, and Rowe returned to Plymouth this week to speak with the Raiders about a deal for the rest of the 2009/10 season.

"We're delighted to have signed Anthony," said Coach Gary Stronach. "His enthusiasm is infectious and he's going to make a big contribution to this team. He works hard at both ends of the floor, but will help us enormously in the rebounding department. He's developed a lot since he left Plymouth – physically, as a basketball player, and as a person, and I'm excited to have him in the Radiers green."

Rowe has initially signed until December the 20th, but both he and the Raiders are talking to each other about their options for the rest of the season.

"Getting the chance to come back to Plymouth, and play in front of my family, friends and the great fans of the Raiders, is a dream come true," said an excited Rowe. "I grew up watching the Raiders and always wondered if I would get to play and make a big contribution to the team – now I have that chance, and I'm blessed to have been given the opportunity. I can't wait to get started!"

Rowe, a 6'8" forward, put up some impressive numbers at North Georgia, and is looking forward to getting involved in BBL action right away. He will get that opportunity this Friday, against an aggressive and athletic Leicester Riders team.

Tickets for the game are still available from the Plymouth Pavilions box office – either call into the box office in person or call 0845 146 1460.
