Gavin Love is set to be named the new head coach of the Plymouth Raiders.

Love will head to Plymouth from Luxembourg League side Contern, where he posted a statement on the team’s website announcing his departure.

“It is with great sadness that I will not be coaching here next season,” he said.

“It is not a decision I have taken lightly. A opportunity has arisen back in my home town and was one that I could not turn down as it means some kind of security for my family over multiple years. I have no doubt I will be returning to my basketball one day.”

It will mark Love’s second spell with the Devon outfit who are currently beginning a much needed new era with the departure of chairman Bob Widdecombe, who has been replaced by life-long fans Ross McKenzie and Richard Mollard.

Love will replace Jonny White, who was forced out of his post following an investigation by the BBC into the legitimacy of his past coaching jobs.
