BBL ChampionshipBBL Championship Action began at the weekend, with seven games up and down the country, and the star performer of this season's first team of the week, was former League MVP Lynard Stewart. The Newcastle Eagles' Centre scored a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds, and shot an outstanding 90% from the field and 6/7 from the free throw line in his side's 85-74 victory over the Cheshire Jets on Friday evening.

Kenny Langhorne of the Guildford Heat took the small forward spot this week, after a strong display in the Heat's 95-65 win over PAWS London Capital, of 21 points, making all six of his field goal attempts, 50% from behind the arc, and three from his four foul shots, in just 25:30 of playing time.

The team is though, by Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders trio, Taurean Minor, Bradd Wierzbicki and Jason Johnson. They all impressed in Leicester's 113-93 win over Sheffield Sharks on Saturday evening. New signing Minor had an inspiring triple- double of 19 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, Wierzbicki put up 32 points on 4/8 three point shooting and 8/9 from the free throw line, and they take the guard spots this week. BBL rookie Johnson, a 6'8'' power forward, also had an impressive outing, with a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds, to complete this week's line up.
