Mike CookThe British Basketball League (BBL) are pleased to announce the Team of the Year, Defensive Team of the Year and GB Team of the Year for the 2009/10 season. Featuring in the BBL Team of the Year is Molten BBL Player of the year, Mike Cook (Sheffield Sharks, pictured). He is joined at the guard position by Rob Yanders, who has had  another excellent season for Glasgow Rocks, Charles Smith (Newcastle Eagles) and Jason Johnson (Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders) are the Forwards, and Tafari Toney joins his Sharks team mate, Cook, as the Centre.

League winners, the Eagles, have done well in the Teams of the Year awards this season, as Reggie Jackson and player-coach, Fabulous Flournoy, feature in the BBL’s Defensive Team of the Year. Team GB Captain and 2005/06 Player of the season, Andrew Sullivan, also joined his Eagles team mates, Jessie Sapp of Glasgow Rocks was included in his rookie season, and coaches have clearly recognised that Tafari Toney can play on both ends of the court,  as they also put him in the all-defensive line up.

Toney completed the outstanding achievement of featuring in all three teams, and Sullivan appeared in two of them, as they joined their former Eagles team mates Olu Babalola (Everton Tigers) and Perry Lawson in the GB Team of the Year, along with Tigers shooting guard, James Jones in the GB Team of the Year.

There are now only three days until the grand finale of the 2009/10 season, the BBL Playoff Final at Birmingham’s NIA. With the event also featuring the Team Colours BBL All Star Game, an exclusive performance from the FACE Team and the BBL Babes and Mascots, it makes for a great day of Basketball entertainment. There are also opportunities for younger fans to be a Player Mascot for the day, or sit on the Team Bench for the All Star Game.
