The Italian players association, known as GIBA (Giocatori Italiani Basket Associati), released an official statement and addressed the situation regarding Siena.

The Italian club, which is currently playing in the second division and is within the relegation zone, is dealing with a major financial crisis.

The club has reportedly run out of money and many players decided to leave, as they were not getting paid. To make matters worse, Siena could not find the funds to send the team to the match against Legnano on the road last week.

Consequently, Siena lost the game 20-0 and further sanctions are expected to be imposed to the historic club.

The Italian players association released an official statement, titled “Siena: So dies a part of Italian Basketball”, and referred to the financial issues of the team.
