According to the Spanish edition of the ESPN, Pau Gasol asked the San Antonio Spurs to let him go, due to the limited playing time he has.
The legendary Spanish center missed 26 games with a stress fracture in his right foot earlier in the season. Since his return, he has been struggling to find his role in the squad and that is why he wants to leave the Spurs.
Gasol has only started six times this season and is averaging 4.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 12.5 minutes of action. All of them are career-lows.
