In what probably was his last game in Boston, the legendary Dirk Nowitzki received a standing ovation from the Celtics fans.
Even though he didn’t score one point to pass Kobe Bryant for the most points scored in Boston’s TD Garden by a Western Conference opponent, the leader of the Dallas Mavericks received a warm welcome by Boston’s fans.
“Yeah, I mean super sweet, super emotional. It’s sweet when not only your home fans, but the fans on the road, that appreciate what you’ve done in the last two decades.
I appreciate the fans of Boston and, unfortunately, really disappointed I couldn’t even make one,” said Nowitzki afterwards.
The Celtics (23-15) claimed an easy victory over the Mavericks (18-20) at home (114-93).
