Khimki have officially announced the addition of guard-forward Garlon Green, the brother of the NBA player Gerald Green. The 27-year-old American spent the previous season in Belgium with Belfius Mons-Hainaut.

It will be a EuroLeague debut for Green, who has not appeared in Europe’s elite club competition. Prior to joining Khimki, Green played for Canberra Gunners (Australia), Kumamoto Volters (Japan), Walter Tigers Tübingen (Germany) and Belfius Mons-Hainaut.

Khimki head coach Georgios Bartzokas explained the addition of Green to the club’s official website:

“We decided to add another player, first of all, because Prather is out for some period of time. We take part in very difficult and competitive leagues, like VTB United League and EuroLeague, and we needed one more player in our backcourt.

Garlon Green is my decision. In my opinion, he is a very interesting player, a versatile guy who can play very good defense. Also, he is a good spot up shooter. We’ll see on the process of Prather’s recovery and take decision on Garlon, how he will help us on this level.”

Just as his brother Gerald, Garlon is a great dunker. He became the German League All-Star Slam Dunk Champion in 2017. He also an infamous dunk to his own basket while playing Germany. This episode earned him a place in Shaqtin’ A Fool.

Last season, Green averaged 16.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in the Belgian league. His stats were similar in FIBA Europe Cup – 14.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
