Olympiacos head coach, David Blatt, spoke with the media and referred to the “Reds” opener against Khimki on Friday (12/10, 19:00 CET).

Here is what the 59-year-old coach said:

On the match against the Russians: “The first game on the road is exciting. It is always a big challenge. Khimki is a great team, with a great coach. They did pretty well last year. It will be a difficult game, but we are prepared for this.”

On the squad’s preparation: “Many players had to leave the training camp for 10-15 days. This is not an excuse, but we had to work harder to cover the gap. I think we are in a good condition. We should play at a high level and not pay attention to what happened in the past.”

On whether Kostas Papanikolaou will play against Khimki: “He was out for three weeks. We were very careful and didn’t want to take any risk. We will see how he responds and we will decide.”
