Per Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, the legendary Dirk Nowitzki has agreed to a new, one-year, $5M deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
The German power forward will remain with Dallas for the 20th consecutive season, as the team’s official announcement is expected soon.
The Mavs initially declined Nowitzki’s contract option for the 2018/19 season in order to create space in their salary cap and that’s why the 2011 NBA Champion will now sign a new contract with the team.
Nowitzki, who led Dallas to the NBA Championship in 2011, will play alongside EuroLeague MVP, Luka Doncic, next season, as the 19-year-old Slovenian was traded to Dallas during the 2018 NBA Draft, although he was initially selected at No.3 by the Atlanta Hawks.
Sources: Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks plan to finalize a one-year, $5 million deal. Neither side appears in rush to sign the contract. Nowitzki is a Maverick for life, of course.
