Ioannis Papapetrou leaves Olympiacos

Ioannis Papapetrou has rejected Olympiacos’ offer to sign a new, three-year (2+1), contract with the club and will not play for the “Reds” next season.

The 24-year-old player, who met with the team’s owners, Panagiotis and Giorgos Aggelopoulos, on Friday, decided to leave the Greek giants, although the club made him a very lucrative offer.

Papapetrou is expected to sign with another Euroleague club within the next few days, with Panathinaikos Superfoods and Khimki Moscow being the main candidates to acquire him.

The Greek forward, who won two Greek Basket League titles (2015, 2016) and played in two Euroleague Championship Games with Olympiacos (2015, 2017), averaged 6.8 points and 3.6 rebounds in 22 minutes of action in the Euroleague last season.
