Bayern Munich veteran Milan Macvan said that Tuesday’s EuroCup loss to Turin was the team’s worst performance of the season.

After finishing the EuroCup regular season top of their group with a 9-1 record, the German side entered the Top 16 as one of the top teams, especially when Bayern’s sole defeat came in their final game when qualification and top spot was assured.

But despite scoring 14 points, Macvan was powerless to help Bayern who never got out of second gear against their Italian counterparts, who eased to a 90-76 win.

“That was our worst game this season, unfortunately at a very unfavorable time for us because it is the start of the second round,” said Macvan.

“We must now move together, find new energy. That’s important now. Today we could not find any rhythm at all.”

Turin, who were led by sublime showings from Diante Garrett, who had 21 points and Lamar Patterson with 18 started strongly, deservedly taking a 25-17 lead after one and rather comfortably secured a double-digit lead at the half as Munich seemingly gave up too easily.

“Turin had a lot more energy, especially in defence, and they did a lot better without the ball,” said Macvan. “Those were the main reasons for the defeat.”
