It was certainly a weekend to forget for six of the 16 EuroLeague sides that returned to domestic league duties as joint leaders Olympiacos were among those sides that tasted defeat.

The Piraeus side lost ground on bitter rivals Panathinaikos in the Greek League by losing 66-62 to AEK Athens, just their second defeat of the season, while the Greens enjoyed an 88-70 road win against Aris, a place known for its intimidating atmosphere.

In the Liga Endesa, league champions Valencia came up short against Estudiantes. Fernando San Emeterio’s potential overtime-bound lay-up was blocked as the Madrid-based side snuck in a 73-71 win. Barcelona also lost out to Tenerife. However, there were wins for Real Madrid, Baskonia and Unicaja Malaga.

Perhaps the biggest shock of the domestic league weekend was Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv’s slip-up at home to Hapoel Holon.

Philadelphia 76ers general manager Bryan Colangelo was on hand to watch Draft pick Jonah Bolden, who hit six points, on a woeful 3/10 shooting and 10 rebounds, and he couldn’t avoid a 93-89 loss.

There were also losses for Zalgiris at home to their only real rivals in the LKL, Lietuvos Rytas and Olimpia Milano suffered a setback against Torino.
