Former Bayern Munich coach Svetislav Pesic has asked the club not to “lower themselves” after player Dusko Savanovic made negative comments towards the play caller during his tenure at the Bavarian giants.

Savanovic, who joined Dinamo Massari in the summer told Serbian media outlet MVP.rs that playing for coach Pesic was the worst decision that he ever made.

Pesic himself left Bayern in July due to health reasons. He was replaced by Sasha Djordevic, who was at the helm of Panathinaikos last season and helped Serbia capture silver at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The club have come out defending their former coach.

“We would have commented on this incomplete story and the untruth details,” said Bayern Munich press officer Andreas Burkert in a statement.

“However Svetislav Pesic asked us, not to lower ourselves down to this level. So we wish Dusko all the best in the future and are looking forward to our first homegame in Audi Dome on Friday against Würzburg.”
