Carmelo Anthony and actress La La Anthony have reportedly reached a divorce settlement nearly five years after she filed to end their marriage.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the former couple informed the court this week that they had reached an agreement. The settlement terms remain confidential, and a judge has yet to approve it.
La La filed for divorce in 2021, citing irreconcilable differences, four years after the couple separated in 2017 following seven years of marriage.
Despite their separation, Carmelo, 42, and La La, 44, have maintained a friendly relationship while co-parenting their 19-year-old son Kiyan, who currently plays basketball at Syracuse University.
During an October 2022 appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, La La explained that their marriage began experiencing difficulties after Carmelo was traded from the Denver Nuggets to the New York Knicks in 2011.
“When we lived here [in New York] under all of that [attention], that’s when things became complicated. I think that was kind of the start, now that I look back, that was kind of the start of the demise of the marriage,” she said.
She also acknowledged that constant media attention contributed to their relationship problems.
“It is the hardest with the scrutiny and the media and the press, just everything. It is really hard. That’s not the only reason things didn’t work out, but things got tough with New York … just constantly being under the spotlight and people watching every little thing.”
Carmelo retired from professional basketball in 2023 after 19 NBA seasons and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in September 2025.
The reported divorce settlement still requires judicial approval before becoming final.
