Philadelphia 76ers center Ariel Hukporti was forced to leave Monday’s preseason game against the New York Knicks after suffering a noncontact injury to his right leg.
Hukporti’s night ended only five minutes into the game. The injury happened with 7:06 remaining in the opening quarter of Philadelphia’s 120-97 victory over New York.
The Sixers are now waiting to determine the extent of the injury.
Head coach Nick Nurse said Hukporti is scheduled to undergo imaging on his Achilles on Tuesday, which should provide more information about his condition.
The timing is particularly difficult for Philadelphia because the team is already dealing with injuries in its frontcourt.
Adem Bona and Tacko Fall are both currently unavailable, leaving the Sixers with additional uncertainty at the center position.
Hukporti joined Philadelphia during the offseason after signing a one-year contract worth $3.4 million.
