Spencer Dinwiddie celebrated his new contract with the Washington Wizards by placing an order for an exceptionally rare hypercar.
After agreeing to a three-year, $54 million deal with Washington, Dinwiddie decided to purchase a Koenigsegg Gemera, a limited-production vehicle from the Swedish manufacturer.
“The Koenigsegg Gemera. Koenigsegg is a Swedish car company. 1 of 300. It’s the first Mega-GT. So it’s a four-seater hypercar. It has I believe 2,000 combined horsepower.”
With only 300 examples planned, buying the Gemera was also very different from walking into a dealership and purchasing a conventional luxury car.
Dinwiddie explained that securing one required reserving a production slot before committing a substantial deposit toward the customized vehicle.
“With those boutique type cars, first you buy the slot, then you put down the 50% deposit, and they make it for you. It’s different.”
