Mario Chalmers, a two-time NBA champion, likes what Davion Mitchell brings to the Miami Heat, but he currently sees him as better suited as a backup point guard.

Mitchell has shown plenty of ability, particularly with his defensive pressure, but Chalmers wants to see more from him as a primary playmaker before considering him the answer at point guard.

“I love Davion Mitchell. I think he’s a great PG. I think he’s a great backup PG. I haven’t really seen him be the playmaker that Miami has traditionally had as far as Carlos Arroyo being a playmaker, Tim Hardaway was a playmaker, I was a playmaker. I’m not saying he can’t do it but I haven’t seen it so far from him.”

Mitchell has played 5 seasons for the Kings, Heat, and Raptors. He has averaged 7.9 points and 3.9 assists in 371 regular-season games.
