The Denver Nuggets have added another experienced big man, agreeing to a one-year contract with free agent Marvin Bagley III, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania on Wednesday. Charania described Bagley as “a critical frontcourt addition” for a Denver team looking to strengthen its interior depth after a 54-28 season that ended with a first-round playoff loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Bagley arrives after splitting the 2025-26 campaign between the Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks. Across 60 games, including 12 starts, the 27-year-old averaged 10.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 20.0 minutes while shooting an efficient 61.8% from the field.

His efficiency improved after joining Dallas, where he posted 11.0 points and 6.8 rebounds in 21.4 minutes per game while converting 60.6% of his field-goal attempts and an impressive 48.5% from three-point range on limited volume.

The former No. 2 overall pick has appeared in 349 regular-season games over eight NBA seasons with the Sacramento Kings, Detroit Pistons, Washington Wizards, Memphis Grizzlies and Mavericks. For his career, Bagley owns averages of 11.8 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 53.1% from the field, giving Denver another proven scoring option in the frontcourt.

Bagley’s addition provides insurance behind three-time MVP Nikola Jokic, who once again anchored the Nuggets in 2025-26 with 27.7 points, 12.9 rebounds and 10.7 assists per game.

Bagley has averaged at least 10 points in seven of his eight NBA seasons and posted one of the most efficient shooting years of his career in 2025-26, highlighted by a 64.7% effective field-goal percentage.
