The Nets used the No. 6 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft to select Louisville guard Mikel Brown, adding one of the most talented offensive players in the class.

Brown averaged 18.2 points, 4.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.2 steals during his freshman season while showcasing his scoring ability and shot creation.

Although injuries limited him to 21 games, he remained highly regarded by scouts throughout the draft process.

The 6-foot-5 guard dealt with back issues for much of the season and missed the final weeks of the year, but teams reportedly came away encouraged by his health during pre-draft workouts.

One executive described the injury as “a thing of the past” and praised Brown’s performances leading up to the draft, citing his potential to develop into a star.

Brooklyn had reportedly hoped Brown would still be available when its selection arrived, and the organization now adds a player with significant upside to its young core.

He joins a crowded backcourt group that includes Egor Demin, Nolan Traore, Ben Saraf, and Drake Powell.
