With the Bucks ultimately sending Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami, attention has quickly shifted to Jaylen Brown’s future in Boston after the Celtics reportedly included him in trade talks for the former MVP.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, teams around the league have been preparing for the possibility that Brown could become available if Boston failed to land Antetokounmpo.
As a result, there is growing belief that multiple franchises could pursue the All-NBA wing.
“What I expect to happen, is a bidding war for Jaylen Brown,” Windhorst said on ESPN’s Get Up on Tuesday.
“In the most recent days, teams have been preparing for this eventuality. That it wouldn’t be the Boston Celtics who won the Giannis sweepstakes and that there would be a Jaylen Brown market.”
Windhorst added that discussions could develop quickly depending on what teams are willing to offer.
“I think it’ll take time to play out, but if there is a draft pick involved, it could happen today.”
Brown remains one of the league’s premier two-way wings and is under contract for three more seasons, with approximately $183 million remaining on his deal.
He is also eligible this summer for a two-year extension worth up to $141.8 million, adding another layer to any potential negotiations involving the Celtics star.
