The Memphis Grizzlies have added forward Toby Okani on a 10-day contract, NBA insider Michael Scotto reported on Thursday, April 2. The 6-foot-8 guard/forward has spent the 2025–26 season with the Westchester Knicks in the G League.
Okani, 24, played college basketball at Duquesne, Illinois-Chicago, and West Virginia. During his collegiate career, he appeared in 145 games with 120 starts, recording 1,184 points, 756 rebounds, 156 blocks, and 130 steals. He earned Missouri Valley Conference All-Defensive Team honors in 2023–24, leading the league with 2.0 blocks per game.
In his final college season at West Virginia, Okani averaged 8.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. This season with Westchester, he has posted 8.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in 25.9 minutes per game across 13 contests, shooting 50% from the field.
Memphis enters this move with multiple key players sidelined. Ja Morant, Zach Edey, Brandon Clarke, Santi Aldama, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Scotty Pippen Jr. are all out for the season, while Ty Jerome, Cam Spencer, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, Taylor Hendricks, and Taj Gibson are listed as doubtful or day-to-day.
The team currently holds a 25–51 record, ranking 11th in the Western Conference and eliminated from playoff contention.
The team is scheduled to face the Toronto Raptors on Friday, April 3, and Okani could see early minutes depending on the availability of other rotation players.
