Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley each scored 34 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers used a decisive late run to defeat the Utah Jazz 122-113 on Monday night at Delta Center.
Cleveland improved to 47-28 and strengthened its hold on fourth place in the Eastern Conference after winning six of its last seven games and five straight on the road.
Mobley delivered one of the most dominant performances of his season, finishing with a season-high 34 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks while controlling the paint on both ends.
The 7-footer scored repeatedly near the rim, throwing down eight dunks and shooting 15-for-21 from the field.
Mitchell matched him with 34 points on 10-of-18 shooting and went 11-for-12 from the free-throw line while adding five assists.
The All-Star guard repeatedly attacked the defense in isolation and pick-and-roll situations to keep Cleveland’s offense steady during key stretches.
The Cavaliers sealed the game with a 14-1 run in the fourth quarter after Utah briefly grabbed the lead.
Ace Bailey gave the Jazz a 105-103 advantage with an acrobatic layup with 5:40 remaining, the first time Utah had led since the opening moments.
Cleveland quickly responded with defensive stops and interior scoring, and Mobley capped the decisive stretch with a three-point play that pushed the lead to 117-106 with 3:14 left.
James Harden orchestrated the offense throughout the night, finishing with 13 points and 14 assists while helping the Cavaliers generate efficient looks.
Cleveland shot 52 percent from the field and dominated the glass with a 49-40 rebounding edge.
Mobley’s activity around the rim was central to Cleveland’s control of the game. He ignited a 13-0 run in the second quarter with a dunk that helped the Cavaliers extend the margin to 44-30.
Two more slams later in the quarter fueled another push as Cleveland closed the half on a 12-5 run to take a 63-53 lead.
Utah stayed competitive behind strong scoring nights from several young contributors. Cody Williams led the Jazz with 26 points, while Kyle Filipowski added 20 points and 10 rebounds. Bailey contributed 19 points and five assists as Utah briefly threatened late.
The loss continued a difficult stretch for the Jazz, who have dropped six consecutive games and 10 of their last 11.
Utah also played with a short rotation due to injuries and roster management decisions. Kevin Love and Svi Mykhailiuk were healthy scratches, and the team used only eight players, including two on 10-day contracts.
The Cavaliers were also without frontcourt depth, as Jarrett Allen and Max Strus remained out after recently returning from injuries.
Cleveland will continue its road trip Tuesday with a matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers. Utah returns home Wednesday to face the Denver Nuggets.
