After a historic blowout loss to the Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero emphasized shared accountability rather than placing the blame solely on head coach Jamahl Mosley.
The Magic were defeated 139-87, a game highlighted by a crushing 31-0 Raptors run that lasted nearly eight minutes.
“It’s all a collective,” Banchero said. “Gotta find ways to stop runs like that. We didn’t. If you want to be a good team, you can’t give up runs like that.”
The defeat marked Orlando’s seventh loss in its last eight games, continuing a troubling stretch that has included setbacks against struggling teams like the Indiana Pacers and the Charlotte Hornets.
With only eight games left in the regular season, the Magic currently sit in the eighth seed but are in danger of slipping further into the Play-In Tournament standings.
Turnovers were a major issue throughout the contest, with Orlando giving the ball away 28 times. A particularly rough start saw them commit 12 turnovers in the first quarter alone, tying a team record.
Toronto took full advantage, converting those errors into 37 points and overwhelming Orlando in transition with a 39-7 edge in fast-break scoring.
Even more concerning was the missed opportunity. The Raptors played without several key players, including Immanuel Quickley and Brandon Ingram, but still dominated with ease.
Orlando, which entered the game chasing Toronto in the standings, failed to capitalize on the shorthanded opponent.
While Mosley accepted responsibility for the team’s lack of preparation, Banchero made it clear that improvement must come from everyone on the roster as the season enters its final stretch.
