Orlando Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley took full responsibility Sunday after his team endured the worst loss in franchise history, falling 139-87 to the Toronto Raptors.

The game featured a devastating 31-0 run by Toronto that lasted 7 minutes and 47 seconds, marking the longest unanswered stretch in the NBA’s play-by-play era.

“We’ve got to have them prepared for the physicality of the game, prepared for how much they were going to grab, hold and get them off their spots,” Mosley said. “That’s on me.”

“I’ve got to be able to do a better job of preparing them for what they were going to see tonight,” he added. “We talked a little bit about it, but probably not enough.”

Orlando struggled with ball control throughout the night, committing 28 turnovers. Twelve of those came in the opening quarter, tying a franchise record for most turnovers in a single period.

The Raptors capitalized heavily, turning those mistakes into 37 points while dominating transition play with a 39-7 advantage in fast-break scoring. By halftime, Orlando was already behind 70-43.

The loss stung even more given the circumstances. Toronto was missing multiple key contributors, including starting guard Immanuel Quickley, leading scorer Brandon Ingram and two rotation players, yet still controlled the game from start to finish.

The Magic entered the matchup just two games behind the Raptors for fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Despite the outcome, Mosley remained confident in his group’s mindset moving forward.

“You’re not as bad as you think you are in your losses, and you’re not as great as you think you are in your wins,” he said. “We’ve got to make sure we get on the right mentality coming down to these last eight games.”
