Panathinaikos has officially moved on from veteran big man Richaun Holmes, announcing the decision on Tuesday.

Holmes joined the EuroLeague side last August after spending a decade in the NBA from 2015 to 2025.

He agreed to a one-year contract that included a team option for a second season, and the deal reportedly placed him among the top earners in European basketball.

He made a solid impression early in EuroLeague play, but his momentum was disrupted by an MCL injury during his adjustment period with the team, as noted by Johnny Askounis of Eurohoops.

After returning, his role diminished, and his playing time gradually decreased.

Over 19 EuroLeague games, the 32-year-old averaged 7.9 points and 4.3 rebounds in 18.7 minutes per contest.

Before his move overseas, Holmes appeared in 489 regular season games across his NBA career.

He was a key starter for the Sacramento Kings from 2019 to 2022, but in later years he took on a reduced role as he moved between teams.
