Tyrese Maxey has been found to have a tendon injury in the pinkie finger of his right hand and is expected to undergo another evaluation in about three weeks.

The Philadelphia 76ers were already shorthanded, with Paul George serving a suspension and Joel Embiid sidelined due to an oblique injury.

Through 61 games this season, Maxey is averaging 29.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 6.7 assists while playing 38.3 minutes per contest.

He has been viewed as a strong contender for an All-NBA selection, though he is still four games shy of meeting the eligibility requirement.

The 76ers sit eighth in the Eastern Conference standings with a 34-30 record.

They also owe their first-round draft pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder, though it is protected if it falls within the top four selections.
