The future of the Golden State Warriors may include another superstar alongside Stephen Curry, according to comments made by NBA insider Marc J. Spears on Monday.

Speaking on 95.7 The Game, Spears suggested the Warriors’ franchise guard expects a major addition during the 2026 offseason.

“I think he knows, whether it’s a Giannis [Antetokounmpo], whether it’s a LeBron James, there’s going to be somebody next summer, that’s going to join him, join Jimmy, join Draymond [Green], assuming he’s still there too,” Spears said.

The comment reflects growing speculation that Golden State could pursue another elite player to maximize the remaining prime years of Curry, who is still producing at an All-Star level at age 37.

The two-time MVP is averaging 27.2 points per game this season while shooting 46.8% from the field and 39.1% from three-point range. He also adds 4.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds across 39 appearances.

Golden State already reshaped its roster by pairing Curry with veteran forward Jimmy Butler. The six-time All-Star is averaging 20.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists in 31.1 minutes per game.

Defensively and as a playmaker, Draymond Green remains a central piece of the system. The veteran forward contributes 5.3 assists and 5.5 rebounds while anchoring the Warriors’ switching defense.

Despite that core, Golden State has hovered around the middle of the Western Conference race. The Warriors hold a 32-32 record and sit ninth in the standings.

That position places them in the play-in conversation rather than the top tier of contenders led by the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs.

One potential offseason target is LeBron James, who will become an unrestricted free agent this summer after his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers expires.

The 41-year-old forward continues to perform at a high level, averaging 21.4 points and 7.0 assists this season. Some analysts have speculated he could return to the Cleveland Cavaliers before retiring.

Another name frequently mentioned in league circles is Giannis Antetokounmpo. The former MVP is in the first season of a three-year, $175 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Milwaukee reportedly listened to trade inquiries before the deadline, though no deal came close to matching the organization’s steep asking price.

Antetokounmpo has repeatedly said he wants to remain with a competitive roster, leaving the possibility of future movement open if the Bucks cannot contend.

For Golden State, the logic behind another star addition is clear. Curry still commands defensive attention across the floor, which creates spacing and opportunities for high-level scorers or interior finishers.

If the Warriors land another elite player, the offensive gravity of Curry combined with Butler’s two-way production could quickly elevate the team back into the Western Conference contender tier.
