The NBA has fined Magic guard Desmond Bane $25K for “throwing the game ball with force into the spectator stands,” the league announced in a press release (Twitter link).

Jason Beede of The Orlando Sentinel shared video footage of the incident (Twitter link), which took place following Orlando’s one-point win over the Lakers on Tuesday.

After the final buzzer sounded, Bane launched a full-court heave that sailed over the opposite basket, bounced off the shot clock, and struck several fans seated behind the hoop.

As Beede explains in a full report, this marks the second time Bane has been fined this season.

In December, he received a $35K fine for throwing the game ball at Knicks forward OG Anunoby with force and in an “unsportsmanlike manner.”

That situation also resulted in a technical foul, and according to Spotrac, Bane has accumulated five additional technical fouls this season, totaling $12K in penalties.

Bane is currently in his first season with the Magic after being acquired from the Grizzlies in a major offseason trade.

The 27-year-old is earning $36.7MM this season, meaning the latest fine represents only a minor financial setback.
