Utah Jazz guard Vince Williams is feared to have suffered a torn ACL during Monday night’s game against the Houston Rockets, according to multiple reports.
The injury occurred in the second quarter, raising immediate concern from teammates and coaches as he left the game.
Williams is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday to confirm the full extent of the damage, though early indications suggest a serious injury.
Head coach Will Hardy expressed concern when addressing reporters after the game. “It doesn’t look great,” Hardy said.
The injury happened following contact with Rockets forward Tari Eason, who delivered a hip check that sent Williams to the floor.
Hardy was critical of the play afterward, stating, “That’s not basketball.”
Before the injury, Williams had been contributing steadily for Utah this season, averaging 7.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists while providing versatility in the backcourt rotation.
Williams also has a team option worth $2.5 million for next season, meaning the outcome of his medical evaluation could play a role in the organization’s future roster decisions moving forward.
