In just his third appearance with the Orlando Magic, Jevon Carter delivered a memorable moment by knocking down a crucial three-pointer in double overtime against the Suns.
Although Phoenix ultimately secured the win on a late shot by Jalen Green, Carter’s performance left a strong impression on his new teammates and coaching staff.
After the game, Paolo Banchero praised newcomer for quickly adapting to his new environment and making an immediate contribution on both ends of the floor.
“Just coming in here and taking advantage of his opportunity, just fitting in, playing both sides of the ball,” Banchero said, per Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel.
“He hit a big shot, I wish we could have pulled the win out for him, because that was a huge shot.”
While the clutch three-pointer stood out as Carter’s biggest offensive highlight, head coach Jamahl Mosley emphasized that the veteran guard’s defensive intensity and leadership have been even more valuable.
According to Beede, Mosley has been particularly impressed by Carter’s energy, communication, and willingness to set the tone defensively from the moment he checks into the game.
“As soon as he stepped on the court, it was pick-up full-court, talking in the huddles, getting guys in the right spots, stepping in with confidence to his shot,” Mosley said.
“He’s about all the right things. He’s about winning. He’s about toughness. He fits exactly what we do here with the Magic, just being able to (play) hard-nose defense, creating your offense on the other end.”
