Jonathan Kuminga is settling into his new role with the Atlanta Hawks after arriving in a midseason trade from the Golden State Warriors.
Speaking on The Hoop Collective podcast, Anthony Slater said, “From everything I’ve heard, he is very happy and settling in in Atlanta.”
Kuminga is in the first year of a two-year, $46.8 million contract with a team option for 2026-27, giving the Hawks flexibility as they transition to a younger core.
Atlanta acquired the 23-year-old forward in the trade that sent Kristaps Porzingis to Golden State, also bringing Buddy Hield to the team. The move follows a busy trade deadline that reshaped the roster around Jalen Johnson.
Through 20 games this season, Kuminga is averaging 12.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 23.8 minutes per contest, shooting 45.4% from the field and 32.1% from three.
The Hawks are currently 26-30, 10th in the Eastern Conference, while Jalen Johnson is leading the team with 23.3 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, providing a rising star alongside Kuminga.
Kuminga’s arrival fills a need for a versatile forward who can score, defend multiple positions, and contribute to Atlanta’s rebuilding effort after trading away Trae Young and Luke Kennard.
