An unnamed investor group based in Dallas has expressed interest in teaming up with Mark Cuban in an effort to repurchase the Dallas Mavericks from the family of Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont.
The Adelson/Dumont family acquired a controlling stake in the franchise from Cuban in 2023.
“The family remains excited about the future of the franchise and the Cooper Flagg era,” a source close to the Dumont family tells Stein.
Adelson and Dumont have outlined plans to construct a new arena for the Mavericks that would be connected to a hotel and casino complex in the Dallas area.
Those plans come as multiple groups continue to push for the legalization of gambling in Texas.
Cuban still holds roughly 27 percent ownership of the team.
While he initially anticipated maintaining control over basketball operations after selling his majority stake, that role was quickly diminished under new leadership led by Nico Harrison.
Harrison later drew widespread backlash after trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of the 2025 NBA trade deadline and was ultimately dismissed in November following sustained fan frustration.
