The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to send point guard Lonzo Ball to the Utah Jazz along with two future second-round draft picks.

The transaction reduces Cleveland’s payroll by approximately $10 million, placing the team about $3.8 million away from dropping below the second luxury-tax apron.

Utah is expected to waive Ball shortly after completing the trade. Once waived, the veteran guard would be free to sign with another team for the rest of the season.

As part of that process, Ball’s 2026-27 team option will be declined, ensuring there is no long-term salary commitment remaining on the Jazz’s books.
