The Golden State Warriors are emerging as a leading suitor for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, according to ESPN insider Brian Windhorst on Wednesday. Sources indicate Giannis has made it clear he wants a trade, and the Bucks are actively soliciting offers for the two-time MVP.

Windhorst said, “Giannis is ready to be gone. He wants to be traded. The Bucks are ready to listen to offers. And this is a maneuver to say send us your offers. Everything else is politicking. Just put it aside. Don’t worry about it. Just move on.”

Milwaukee appears focused on acquiring future assets rather than immediate roster help, as Windhorst explained: “Don’t prioritize trades that bring in players that could help them now because the Bucks are in a position where they need to worry about this year’s draft pick. They need to tank the rest of this season, improve this year’s draft pick and have themselves in position to rebuild as fast as possible.”

Golden State holds a significant advantage in these talks, with nearly all future draft assets available to trade. Windhorst noted, “The Warriors hold all of their future draft assets. They can trade all of them up to four first and swaps, stuff like that. Steph Curry is there. This discussion begins as Golden State.”

The Warriors’ current roster features 37-year-old Stephen Curry averaging 27.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game, alongside Jimmy Butler, who contributed 20.0 points and 5.6 rebounds before the season-ending ACL injury. Their combination of veteran talent and draft flexibility gives them a unique capacity to structure a package appealing to Milwaukee while remaining competitive in the Western Conference.

Giannis, 31, has broadened his trade considerations beyond the New York Knicks, highlighting his desire to compete for another championship. He is sidelined with a calf strain, leaving his future in Milwaukee uncertain. Any deal would need to balance immediate competitiveness with long-term asset accumulation, a challenge the Warriors are best positioned to meet.

If Golden State completes a trade, the addition of Giannis would create a dominant frontcourt pairing alongside Curry in the backcourt and Butler on the wing. For the Bucks, the potential haul of draft assets could accelerate a rebuild while positioning them for future contention.
